I use a variety of diferent herbs and spices in my daily life. I use them in cooking, cleaning, and medicinal uses.

Here are a few herbs you can grow great at home on your kitchen counter or in your herb garden.

Lavender- Many people appreciate lavender or Lavandula angustifolia or Lavandula officinalis for its aromatic smell which is often used in soaps, shampoos, and sachets for scenting clothes. The name lavender comes from the Latin root lavare, which means “to wash.” Lavender is great to use in baths for cleaning body and spirit. Lavender is also a natural remedy for a range of ailments from insomnia and anxiety to depression and mood disturbances.

Thyme- Thyme is a good source of iron and is used widely in cooking and preparing meats. Thyme is an antiseptic, with its main active ingredient in Listerine mouthwash. Before the advent of modern antibiotics, it was used to medicate bandages. It has also been shown to be effective against the fungus that commonly infects toenails. Throughing a few leaving in warm water to soak your feet is a great help for fungus suffers.
