5 Tips To Help Make Decisions To Change Life’s Journey
April 19th, 2010 By: Brittany
Confidence comes not from always being right but from not fearing to be wrong. ~Peter T. Mcintyre
I recently went out of town this past weekend. What an amazing trip we had. I highly recommended going to the beach as much as you can get away to go. If you don’t live near a beach then even a place that holds beauty and enlightenment to you is perfect. My husband and I are starting a new journey in our lives together. My husband who wants to daringly get away from the corporate world is getting set to start his own web design based business. I am on route to my business in counseling, and we are expecting another baby at the end of the year. Needless, to say it has been a big 2010 already!
I have come across both friends, family, and acquaintances who are venturing into a new world that feels very foreign and uncomfortable. Many are unhappy with work, with themselves, and with their relationships. They are ready to make a change, but are unsure how to make it. Much of the energy on the planet right now is very fear based. If you are feeling unsure about your finances or your ability to have success you are probably feeling some of that energy as your own. The best way to reassure yourself is to get as much info as you can. If you are struggling to get to that information here is are 15 tips to set you up with confidence.
1. Buy a journal. I think this is most important. It is not to use just for journaling your thoughts and feelings, but it is also to take notes, answers questions, and make agendas.
2. Buy a book. It’s important to start out with books that pertain to your interest of interest at hand. If relationships are what you want to change then research books on them and start with one that catches your attention.
3. Take a class. There are many classes that are being offered all over the nation that help to self motivated and keep encouragement alive. Taking a class on starting a business, making a business plan, or becoming yoga certified (whatever your interest is in). Taking a class will help you become informed, will encourage you to stay on your path, and will increase confidence in yourself.
4. Shift your focus. This is sometimes hard to do when you aren’t yet on path you want. However, shifting your attention to your focus and intent will get you to where you want to be faster. When you shift your focus your mind and body start to help you focus on the new shifts in life. This is how new habitats are formed.
5. Take a vacation. This doesn’t mean you have to buy tickets to Hawaii. It simply means as stated above; go to a place that enlightenment always finds you. It could be camping, it could be going to a beach or lake, or it could be exploring the country. It does not have to be long and it does not have to be expensive. The point of vacations is to relax. When we free are minds of the everyday stress that feels confining we often can better picture and form our lives.

Inspiration From Steve Jobs
March 21st, 2010 By: Brittany
I always want to find inspiration from others. We all have our own inspirational stories if we sit down and truly think about it. Most times however, we are so involved with life to notice how we got so far in life. Inspiration does not just come from a rich man, an athletic hero, or a rags to riches. Inspiration is found in everything if we choose to let inspiration in.
I read this story from Steve Jobs of Apple and Pixar. I could not help, but want to post this story. I think everyone right now is going through a struggle to find inspiration to grow themselves.
Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple Computer and Pixar Animation Studios, delivered a truly inspirational commencement address to some 5,000 Stanford University graduates. Without further adieu, his message:
“I am honored to be with you today at your commencement from one of the finest universities in the world. I never graduated from college. Truth be told, this is the closest I’ve ever gotten to a college graduation. Today I want to tell you three stories from my life. That’s it. No big deal. Just three stories.
The First Story is About Connecting the Dots.
I dropped out of Reed College after the first 6 months, but then stayed around as a drop-in for another 18 months or so before I really quit. So why did I drop out?It started before I was born. My biological mother was a young, unwed college graduate student, and she decided to put me up for adoption. She felt very strongly that I should be adopted by college graduates, so everything was all set for me to be adopted at birth by a lawyer and his wife.
Except that when I popped out they decided at the last minute that they really wanted a girl. So my parents, who were on a waiting list, got a call in the middle of the night asking: ‘We have an unexpected baby boy; do you want him?’ They said: ‘Of course.’ My biological mother later found out that my mother had never graduated from college and that my father had never graduated from high school. She refused to sign the final adoption papers. She only relented a few months later when my parents promised that I would someday go to college.
And 17 years later I did go to college. But I naively chose a college that was almost as expensive as Stanford, and all of my working-class parents’ savings were being spent on my college tuition. [ continue reading ]

Quote of The Day
March 19th, 2010 By: Brittany
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us, it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Let’s Make You Think…Destiny
March 17th, 2010 By: Brittany
If I could blog quotes all day I would. But, as last that only can go so far before a change of topic is needed.
I always find that certain days make me think of certain topics, events, and simply about life. Today, I can across the topic of destiny.
In my work and study I have come to think of destiny as not simply a set path, but a way for us as humans to help decide how we want our destiny to be.So…to get your mind moving here are some thinkers.
“Dreams are like stars…you may never touch them, but if you follow them they will lead you to your destiny.”
“I seldom end up where I wanted to go, but almost always end up where I need to be.”
“Watch your thoughts, for they become words.
Watch your words, for they become actions.
Watch your actions, for they become habits.
Watch your habits, for they become character.
Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.”Similar Quotes. About: Character quotes, Thinking quotes, Words quotes, Destiny quotes, Personality quotes, Caution quotes, Habit quotes, Action quotes.
Add to Chapter…I Like this quote I dislike this quote“Serendipity. Look for something, find something else, and realize that what you’ve found is more suited to your needs than what you thought you were looking for.”
“Dreams are like stars…you may never touch them, but if you follow them they will lead you to your destiny.”
“I seldom end up where I wanted to go, but almost always end up where I need to be.”
“I have no regrets in my life. I think that everything happens to you for a reason. The hard times that you go through build character, making you a much stronger person.”
Rita Mero
“I can’t control my destiny, I trust my soul, my only goal is just to be. There’s only now, there’s only here. Give in to love or live in fear. No other path, no other way. No day but today.”
Johnathan Larson
“It’s choice–not chance–that determines your destiny.”
Jean Nidetch
“A person often meets his destiny on the road he took to avoid it.”
Jean de La Fontaine
“Sow a thought, and you reap an act; Sow an act, and you reap a habit; Sow a habit, and you reap a character; Sow a character, and you reap a destiny”
Charles Reade
“Our destiny changes with our thought; we shall become what we wish to become, do what we wish to do, when our habitual thought corresponds with our desire.”

Man Risks Life While Saving Grandson
January 15th, 2010 By: Brittany
PORTLAND, Ore. — A La Grande man is in a burn unit after risking his life to save his grandchild from a burning house Monday night.
Jim Smith is recovering at Legacy Emanuel Hospital from burns to the top of his head, face, arms and 70 percent of his back after charging into the blaze on Ash Street in La Grande.
Smith was sleeping in a camper parked in the driveway when a neighbor pounded on the house’s front door to alert the children’s father, Steven Lane, to the fire.
Lane rushed upstairs to get 2-year-old Alexis and 4-year-old Austin. Ashley, 7, was able to break a first-floor window and escape on her own.
But 6-year-old Aaden was still in the basement.
When Smith heard the boy was still inside, he headed toward the blaze.
“I had to go through the flames to get into the house because it had already engulfed the whole porch area of the house and the back porch. The computer room was all in flames. Then, down in the basement, it was starting to burn down through the basement to Aaden’s bed,” he said.
Smith said he found the boy asleep, wrapped him in a jacket and looked for a way out.
“I was beside myself. I didn’t know what to do. I was scared to death,” he said.
Smith, who was not wearing a shirt or a hat, carried Aaden up the stairs and escaped through the garage.Aaden suffered a burn on the back of his hand. The other children weren’t injured.
The childrens’ mother, Crystal Voyles, said she returned home Monday night after being called about the fire. She rejoined her family in a nearby church parking lot.Voyles and her children called Smith “Papa Jim, our hero” after the fire.
“I didn’t let go of (Aaden) and he didn’t let go of me until we found what we needed to find — everyone that was in that house,” Smith said.
