Each year as far back as I can remember I have always made a vision board at the start of the New Year. I have always found it a way to get me thinking about the goals I want to accomplish before the next year begins. I can not stress how powerful these boards are. The more you are reminded of your intentions, the greater the chance of making a shift towards them. Like attracts like. Which is the exact purpose of your board. If you haven’t made a board yet, get your self a big piece of cardboard, some magazines, and a quiet Sunday afternoon.

Ways to be more successful with your board.

Focus Your Goals On Paper First.

Don’t loose the purpose of making the board. You have to believe what you’re putting on your board. The best way to do that is to put some time putting your goals on paper first.

Do one thing at a time.

It’s easy to get wrapped up in everything that you’d like to have in life, but it also takes more energy to keep steady focus on each one. My motto is pick no more then 9 goals at a time. I have seem boards that have more then 20. This is great to have found what you want, now simplify. Start from the issues that make the biggest impact.

Use your Affirmations.

Affirmations are empowering questions that change your subconscious thought patterns from negative to positive.

Here are a few examples to think about.

I prosper wherever I turn and I know that I deserve prosperity of all kinds

I have a wonderful partner and we are both happy and at peace

I trust in the process of life

My life is a joy filled with love, fun and friendship all I need do is stop all criticism, forgive, relax and be open

I’m not saying you shouldn’t focus on what you want. Naturally, it’s important to “begin with the end in mind.”

However, most people stay so focused on their “end” that they end up chasing their tail.

It’s a journey of DISCOVERY.

Making a board is all about discovering you, your path, and your basic desires. You might feel as you make your board that you want to hold back these desires because you feel you won’t be able to accomplish them, or that they are to far out of your reach. It is these issues that arise that allow you to work on the core of your success and happiness.

Enjoy this process! It is yet another step towards your happiness, and achievements. You are a step closer to your optimum goals.

Ever heard the saying, Do unto others as you would have them do unto you? This would include showing kindness and generosity. Remember, that even if you’re having a hard day, showing kindness as oppose to anger will always get you much further ahead.

So, you need some help generating ideas? Let us help give you some concepts to brainstorm.

1. Pay it forward. If someone stops to let you into traffic, then pay it forward by letting someone get in. When you stop to get your morning coffee, give the cashier any extra dollar for the next order behind you. You get the idea!

2. Always say thank you.

3. Try to speak positively no matter how bad the scenario may be. We hear so much negativity everyday, why add some positivity to the day.

4. Choose to forgive instead of holding a grudge.

5. We feel flattered when others compliment us, why not try to compliment someone daily.

6. Never assuming anything about anyone. No one likes to be judged.

7. Smile at others where ever you may be.

8. Always, give a second chance.

9. Be genuinely interested in the welfare of others.

10. Never use or take advantage of anyone.

11. Try not to be jealous, always give praise when it’s needed.

12. Help a friend who needs some emotional support.

13. Always try keep your word.

14. Don’t blow people off. This shows disrespect.

15. Show understanding.

16. Make someone nice for a family member.

17. Write thank you notes whenever someone gives you a gift.

18. Never YELL, especially out of anger.

There are times through out life that we feel depressed. Many of us may encounter depression more regularly then others. Either way, it is important that we continue to not stay in a state of consistent depression. The hardest part about moving through depression, is lack of motivation. Let’s run through a few ideas to get you feeling better, and motivate you to become happy.

1. Take a walk. Walking is a very good start towards feeling happy. Not only does walking make you feel more motivated, but research has shown that it helps with the effects of depression.

Researchers at the University of Texas at Austin measured the moods of two groups suffering from depression after a 30 minute period. One group spent the 30 minutes walking on a treadmill while the other group sat quietly. They were surveyed five minutes before the session and five, 30 and 60 minutes afterward. Although both groups reported a reduction in negative feelings only the group that exercised acknowledged they felt good after the session.

2. Read or listen to something positive. It important to take into consideration that feeling depressed is very taxing on both our minds and body. Listening or reading to something is inspirational can quickly change our present outlook. Think of how you feel when you hear a touching story on the news, or read heart felts quotes. These all provoke a sense of positive thinking. Find quotes, read stories, or listen to a cd that inspires happiness.

3. Learn forgiveness. Forgiving yourself and forgiving others is important for happiness. We tend to be happier and live happier lives when he let go of our anger, hatred, and dislike for ourselves and others. Negativity can way you down and make you collapse into a deeper state of depression. Learn to forgive your self first. The best way to do this is to stand in front of a mirror as often as you need to, and tell youself, ” I forgive myself, I deserve love and I deserve happiness.” Once you’ve forgiven yourself; forgive others.

Although holding on to anger and hostile feelings can increase the risk of heart disease, forgiveness can diminish that risk. Not only does forgiveness reduce chronic stress, it also increases your sense of self control, which lessens the chance that you’ll overreact in stressful situations. Bottom Line Secrets

4. Help others. When we help others we help heal ourselves. Helping people for the sake of helping will not only help motivate you to go out and participate, but it will also make you feel needed. You could help a elderly neighbor wake her dog, read stories at your local children’s hospital, or you could volunteer at a soup kitchen. These are just a few things that make you difference for others, but can make a difference for you too.

5. Stand up for yourself. Letting others walk all over you can make you feel less of a person. Certainly, we don’t like to feel that we do or say doesn’t matter. Stand up to others when you feel others aren’t listening or giving you any credit. Many people who feel depressed at work feel so because they let their co-workers and manager walk over them. Standing up is important for self-esteem, self confidence, and motivation.
