Handling Failure
A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable but more useful than a life spent in doing nothing.
-George Bernard Shaw
We are taught fairly early on that success is good and failure is bad. This thought gives many a distorted view about success resulting in a deep fear of failure. If you decide to start in on something new, or even picking up something that is old you have to accept that mistakes may be made along the way. It is how you handle these mistakes that determines if you feel that you have failed or succeeded.
One of the most important things to keep in mind before you start your journey is to keep a positive attitude. I talk a lot about being positive, but if you are not willing to reinfore your mistakes and understand the learning process that it is providing you then it will make the journey that much harder. Do not feel like you have failed because you didn’t get it right the first time, do not set limits to your exceptations, and do not say negative thoughts that might hinder your journey.
Remember the old saying if at first you don’t succeed get up and try again. There is always a lesson from failure. If you want something bad enough you will let failure be nothing than small road blocks along the journey to your goal.
